Signal

A story: every article that reported one event, for one company, on one radar.

{
  "id": 4812,
  "radar_id": 37,
  "headline": "H.I.G. Capital agrees to acquire Mistras Group for $866 million",
  "summary": "Mistras Group signed a definitive agreement on 17 September to be taken private by funds affiliated with H.I.G. Capital at $20.35 a share in cash.",
  "filters": [{ "id": 212, "kind": "event", "key": "mergers_acquisitions", "label": "M&A" }],
  "company": { "id": 91, "name": "Mistras Group" },
  "first_reported_at": "2026-09-18T12:04:00Z",

}
  • headline and summary are written for the story; each source keeps its own title.
  • filters are every filter the story matched, best first, as the row in the app shows them.
  • company is null on a radar without companies. After the company is deleted, its id is null and its name stays.
  • url is the first report.
  • category: deal, market, product, regulation or talent.
  • importance: 0 (routine), 0.5 (worth knowing) or 1 (changes the competitive picture), or null.
  • A signal is never edited by an edit of its radar: it keeps the filter and company it matched when it was found. A query edit removes the signals the new query no longer matches (see PATCH /radars/{id}).

Sources

GET /signals/{id} adds its sources, first report first:

{
  "sources": [
    {
      "url": "https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/…",
      "domain": "businesswire.com",
      "title": "Mistras Group Enters into Definitive Agreement to be Acquired by H.I.G. Capital",
      "published_at": "2026-09-18T12:04:00Z",
      "excerpt": "PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J. Mistras Group, Inc. (NYSE: MG), a leading ‘one source’ provider of…",
      "origin": "web",
      "author": null,
      "custom_source_id": null
    }
  ]
}

A source's origin is linkedin for a post read on a company's LinkedIn company page, web otherwise. A post's author is the page that published it (BNP Paribas), its title its first sentence and its excerpt the rest.

A source's custom_source_id is the account's custom source its page is on (the page's domain is its address, or a subdomain of it), or null. It holds for pages found before the custom source was added.
